"I
could not ever imagine the past seven years without Santa Barbara
Youth Theatre. SBYT has been an absolutely integral part of my growth
as an actor. Next year I will attend NYU's Tisch School of the Arts
as a drama major. This accomplishment would not have been possible
without the amazing training I received through the SBYT program."

AUDITION
& PROGRAM INFORMATION
|
 |
Everyone
Must Audition for the Show!
Our
goal is to provide a very professional experience for students
and the audience who attend our shows. Performers (age 12 and
up) must demonstrate talent and a serious desire to participate
in the program. WE ARE NOT A YOUTH CAMP! THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN
DESIGNED FOR THE SERIOUS STUDENT! We cast no more than the number
of the cast in the script. We rarely double-cast characters.
Even
if you have never auditioned for a show we encourage you to try.
You always learn something at an audition, even if you don't get
cast for the show. Many students have auditioned numerous times
before being cast in a SBYT show.

What
to Bring to your Musical Audition:
1) Bring sheet music in your key. You may bring
an instrumental cassette tape without vocals.
2) Wear comfortable clothes to move freely in and
be sure you wear shoes you can dance in. No high heels or heavy boots!
Be prepared to read from the script cold.
3) Bring bottle water and a snack
4) Bring your summer calendar to list possible conflicts
with dates
5) Application,
already completed. If you are under 16, bring a parent to sign the
audition application. |

Fees
The
participation fee for the Summer Program includes all instructions
in vocal, acting, and dance classes, costumes, tote bag, and script.
Students will be required to purchase makeup kit ($15.00) and to
provide character shoes. Scholarships are available for cases where
fees would cause economic hardships. Mentor positions with fees
waived are available for selected high school seniors and college
students. Internships are also available for interested students.

Summer Program is six weeks, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 1:30

dance routines and character development as well as a special dramaturgy
lesson in the history of the production. During the first two weeks
there will be several afternoon classes for specific instruction
in the art of makeup and vocal training with guest artists. Times
to be announced. Extra rehearsal calls may be scheduled during the
two weeks before performance dates. This is determined by the Director.
All students must be present at all rehearsals unless prior arrangements
have been approved by the Director.

The
SBYT Orchestra
Santa
